Why 1/16 inch matters
Windows are rarely perfectly square, and custom treatments are built to exact spec. Measure a hair too wide and an inside-mount shade binds against the frame; too narrow and you get light gaps down the sides. Measuring to the 1/16 inch is what makes the fit clean and the operation smooth.
Inside vs. outside mount changes the measurement
An inside mount is measured to the exact opening (width at top, middle, bottom; height at left, center, right) and built to fit within it. An outside mount is measured to cover the opening plus overlap, so it blocks light around the edges. The measuring method is different - and getting it wrong is costly on a custom order.
